Press Release

On Sunday, October 5, Mayor Greenberg will kick off the evening’s Halloween party by opening the Boo at the Zoo route at 5 p.m. In addition, the Zoo will welcome an impressive lineup of firefighters from Anchorage Middletown, Fairdale, Fern Creek, Jeffersontown, Louisville Fire, Okolona, Pleasure Ridge Park, St. Matthews, Zoneton, Nichols, and Southeast Bullitt Fire. These 40+ firefighters will be on hand to distribute candy at the various trick-or-treat booths. Kids dressed as little firefighters, along with other partygoers, will have the exciting opportunity to meet these real-life heroes, ask questions and even pose for a memorable photo together. Boo at the Zoo is presented by Meijer. Tickets are available at louisvillezoo.org/boo.
This beloved “merry, not scary" event, a Louisville tradition, runs through October 30 (Thursday – Sunday nights).
Tickets are all-inclusive and cover Boo at the Zoo admission, parking, the Spooktacular Carousel, the “not-so-itsy-bitsy” Spider House, and the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow attraction.
Children and adults are encouraged to wear their wildest costumes for the after-hours event. Boo at the Zoo transforms the Zoo into a living storybook, complete with favorite characters brought to life, music, photo opportunities, and a safe place to trick-or-treat for kids 11 and under. This event is rain-or-shine.
