Strength, Stamina, and Success

“Stay in front of the wave of life and outrun it as long as you can,” says Daniel Diamond, a Baptist Health Milestone member.

At age 65, Daniel is an inspiration to us all. His passion for his work is matched by his commitment to health and wellness. Keeping the brain mentally healthy is essential for success in other areas of life.

“I first joined Milestone 10 years ago and remained a member for a couple of years before moving to Los Angeles, where I’m originally from. After the wildfires early last year, my family and I moved back to Louisville, where my wife is from. Rejoining Milestone was one of the first things I did when we arrived. With a demanding yet very enjoyable professional life and a wonderful family, maintaining my strength and stamina is important so I can stay focused and on top of everything. I also find that, for me, physical fitness leads to mental and attitudinal fitness,” says Daniel.

“I’ve been in the film industry for over 30 years. At the beginning of my career, I worked in an executive role overseeing financing, distribution, and marketing for films like Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Rules of Engagement, and Hardball. More recently, I produced Mother’s Day and Winchester. I am currently working on a thriller based on a true story called Eleven Days,” says Daniel.

His gym routine, along with his dedication to family and a career in the movie industry, inspires us all to make time for our health. Daniel focuses on strength training every other day, along with daily cardio. He also strives to improve his flexibility. He tackles his physical health at Baptist Health Milestone so he can succeed and keep up with the demands of life.

We all lead busy lives at work or day to day life, but it’s important to slow down and make time for yourself. Relieving stress through cardiovascular exercise and weight training by incorporating simple changes like these into your daily routine can have a profound effect on your workday.

 1) Step away from your computer and walk a lap around the office.

 2) While seated at your desk, raise your heels off the floor and complete 25 seated calf raises.

3) Stand behind your chair at work and perform straight leg side kicks, 25 on each side.

4) Replace your chair with a stability ball (large workout ball) to improve balance/engage core.

5) Practice box breathing techniques to help control stress. Inhale for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 4 seconds, and exhale for 4 seconds
