Prepare for a mesmerizing journey through the Louisville Zoo as it welcomes back its much-loved lantern festival, Wild Lights, now in its fifth spectacular year. Running on select nights from March 23 to May 19, guests are invited to immerse themselves in a luminous wonderland of hand-crafted lantern displays. Tickets are now available for purchase exclusively online at louisvillezoo.org/wildlights.
Embark on a1.4-mile adventure along illuminated pathways, where over 60 custom-designed lanterns await. From vibrant depictions of nature to stunning portrayals of coral reefs and Chinese mythology, each themed area promises to transport visitors to a world of fantasy and wonder. Stand before towering sculptures like the 23-foot-tall octopus or stroll through a breathtaking morning glory corridor. Get ready to step into a realm of mythical creatures with a walk-through phoenix tunnel and other fantastical installations.
Adding to the enchantment, interactive lanterns invite guests to engage, from powering lantern movements to participating in games and more. Throughout the 38-night event, live performances, including Chinese folk dances and acrobatics, promise to captivate audiences with their grace and artistry. Additionally, guests can browse unique handcrafted goods and indulge in delicious snacks and cocktails provided by Service Systems Associates, the Zoo’s food and amenity vendor.
Wild Lights is designed to accommodate all visitors, with wheelchair and stroller-friendly pathways along paved routes. The festival will take place rain or shine, from 7 to 10 p.m. every Thursday through Sunday night, with extended hours during JCPS Spring Break from April 1 to 5, 2024. As a special treat for Zoo members, a preview night will be held exclusively on March 22.
Tickets are available for purchase in advance online only, with special pricing options for different nights and packages. For added flexibility, a limited number of “Anytime Tickets” are available for redemption on any night of the event.
