Press Release

What: Urban Forestry, TreesLouisville, and Louisville Grows are teaming up for a Community Wide Planting Day on Saturday, November 15, to plant over 100 new trees throughout the St. Joseph neighborhood! This event is made possible with the help of 100+ volunteers who will be joining us on this day to plant trees on the rights-of-way, residential yards, and large privately owned land throughout the community. The St. Joseph neighborhood has only 21% canopy cover; this, plus their location adjacent to the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport and I-65, make it an ideal location to receive more trees. Over the years these trees will help filter air pollution, reduce stormwater runoff, add to the aesthetics of the neighborhood, and more!
This is the 4th year these organizations have been collaborating together to create a greener and healthier neighborhood in one day! Volunteers will also be provided with lunch thanks to the sponsorship of the Klausing Group.
WHEN: Saturday, November 15, 2025. 10:45 am - 3:00 pm
WHERE: 760 Eastern Parkway: Our Mother of Sorrows

WHY: Planting trees creates a healthier environment, contributes to our well-being, and
improves the quality of life for everyone in our community. Louisville’s declining tree canopy has the greatest impact on neighborhoods that are already vulnerable to rising heat. By planting and protecting trees, we can build a more resilient, livable city for all residents. Every tree planted today helps grow a greener, cooler, and healthier Louisville for tomorrow.
