Metro United Way’s Tocqueville Society to Host Louisville Authors Forum Featuring Pattie Dale Tye and Maggie Harlow
Press Release: Metro United Way

Local authors will explore the stories, experiences and perspectives that shape our lives and communities
Metro United Way’s Tocqueville Society will bring together two accomplished Louisville authors, Pattie Dale Tye and Maggie Harlow, for the Louisville Authors Forum on Monday, Oct. 26, at The Olmsted.
The luncheon, taking place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will feature a conversation between Tye and Harlow moderated by Beth LaGuardia Cooper, President of Advantage Media, the exclusive publisher of Forbes Books. The discussion will explore the authors’ personal and professional journeys, the stories that shape our lives and the experiences that influence how we see ourselves, our careers and our communities.
Tye, COO of Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC, bestselling Forbes author and national speaker, is the author of Ordinary to Extra-Ordinary: Achieving Remarkable Career Success through Passion, Purpose, and Preparation. Published by Forbes Books, the book draws on Tye’s more than three decades of C-suite leadership experience and explores the role of passion, purpose and preparation in building a meaningful and successful career.
Harlow, a Louisville entrepreneur, speaker and leadership strategist, is the author of Everyday Extraordinary: How Giving Yourself Permission Changes Everything. Through personal stories and insights, Harlow explores what can happen when we give ourselves permission to challenge expectations, embrace possibility and make meaningful changes in our lives.
The conversation will offer guests an opportunity to hear from two local authors and leaders whose books draw on their experiences and perspectives while addressing themes of personal growth, purpose, leadership and the choices that shape our journeys.
“Stories have the power to connect us, inspire us and remind us of what is possible when we work together,” said Adria Johnson, president and CEO of Metro United Way. “We are excited to welcome Maggie Harlow and Pattie Dale Tye, two longtime friends and supporters of Metro United Way, for this special Tocqueville Society event, the Louisville Authors Forum. Their commitment to our community extends far beyond this event, and we are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate their voices, their stories and the impact they continue to make in our community.”
Following the moderated conversation, guests will have an opportunity to participate in a Q&A with the authors and meet Tye and Harlow during a book signing.
The Louisville Authors Forum is hosted by Metro United Way’s Tocqueville Society, a community of philanthropic leaders committed to strengthening the Greater Louisville region. The luncheon also provides an opportunity for guests to learn more about the Tocqueville Society and Metro United Way’s work across the region.
