Embrace Aging

As we navigate life’s transitions, aging with purpose is a universal goal. Donny Weber, a member of Baptist Health Milestone, is a great example—demonstrating that 75 is just a number. His focus on health and wellness is a powerful reminder to make the most of every stage of life.

Donny was an avid runner for many years, competing in marathons including New York and multiple Boston Marathons—even the 100th. Today, his workout plan is substantially different.

“My running buddies and I used to run for two hours and have coffee for 20 minutes. Now, we like to walk for 20 minutes and have coffee for two hours,” Donny laughs.

Kevin Connell, Donny’s lifelong running buddy, encouraged him to join Baptist Milestone. “The staff at Baptist Milestone is top-notch, and the camaraderie with my friends there is priceless,” says Donny.

Having undergone open-heart surgery in 2011, Donny understands the importance of staying healthy. “I was always a healthy eater and stayed fit by running daily, but stress took its toll on me,” he explains. Now retired from his demanding yet rewarding career as an architect and general contractor—whose company actually built the very first Milestone location—Donny enjoys oil painting and is represented by several galleries throughout the states.

These days, he spends time at Milestone lifting weights and using cardio machines. He also enjoys playing golf and spending time with his grandkids and family. “Aging is an opportunity. Embrace the change,” Donny advises.

We all have choices to make. Those choices can lead us down a road of aches and pains, along with unhealthy habits—or toward a healthier, more fulfilling life. If we choose to make positive decisions in our day-to-day lives, the outcome can be incredibly rewarding. No one is perfect, so remember that moderation is key.

We would love to see you at Baptist Health Milestone. It’s never too late to make changes and live a healthier life.
