SANKOFA HOMECOMING JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION

The Sankofa Homecoming Juneteenth Celebration brought families and community members together at Chickasaw Park for a day centered on liberation, healing, play, and connection. Presented by Play Cousins Collective and community partners, the event highlighted the organization’s Freedom Play philosophy, encouraging children and caregivers to engage in joyful, nature-based activities that foster creativity, confidence, and belonging. The celebration also showcased the vision for Sankofa Sanctuary, a permanent community space designed to support learning, wellness, and family connection for generations to come.
