The Eighth Annual Elmer Lucille Allen Conference on African American Studies was held to honor the legacy of the Louisville trailblazer, ancestors and elders throughout the African diaspora. The event featured presentations from artists, academics, and community members, all centered around the theme “Standing on a Legacy, Building Toward a Future.” Participants shared research, insights, and grassroots solutions related to Black history, education, anti-Black legislation, intergenerational programs, and data collection. The conference provided a platform for meaningful dialogue and scholarship, emphasizing the importance of honoring history while actively shaping a more equitable future for Black communities.
