The Muslim Americans for Compassion hosted the 16th Annual Interfaith Iftar Dinner, celebrating unity and diversity across communities. The event highlighted the significance of Iftar, the sunset meal during Ramadan, where Muslims traditionally break their fast with dates and share a full-course meal after Maghrib prayers. A special tribute was paid to the Saint Francis of Assisi School Student Service Group and teacher Fred Whittaker, recognizing over twenty years of their dedicated work serving the marginalized and fostering interfaith understanding. Their efforts included outreach with Louisville Islamic School, partnerships with the Jewish community, and collaborations with Buddhist monks on compassionate education. Guests enjoyed inspiring presentations by community leaders, culminating in the shared breaking of the fast, accompanied by a traditional Middle Eastern meal catered by Jarfi’s.
