Scene & Snapped: This week in parties, University of Louisville students filled the gymnasium at The Salvation Army’s Male Campus for Wrap-Up Louisville; Louisville’s first annual Gravy Cup – a biscuit and gravy competition hosted by Zach Fry – was held at the Monkey Wrench; Pirates and Parrot Heads stole the show at the eighth annual Swashbucklers Ball; and the Kentucky Derby Festival unveiled its 2013 Official Poster and merchandise line at the 33rd annual Poster Premiere.
An unforgettable Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras has long combined wild street activities open to everyone with events organized by private clubs known as krewes. For a Mardi Gras virgin like me, I had to familiarize myself pronto because I was just about to cross this adventure off my bucket list.
YWC Charity Ball
The Younger Woman’s Club of Louisville held its annual Charity Ball on Feb. 5 at The Pendennis Club.
Celebrating New Year’s Mardi Gras style
New Year’s Eve was a good excuse for the members of the Pendennis Club, the Louisville Boat Club and Big Spring Country Club to get together for a joint New Orleans Mardi Gras-themed party. It was held at Big Spring and more than 200 attended.
