Kentucky Humane Society Offers Camps
From proper pet handling and bathing to humane education, dog safety and animal-related careers, each Kentucky Humane Society camp offers specific focus and enrichment for your child.
Nine week-long camps, offered June through August at the Kentucky Humane Society’s Main Campus and East Campus locations, help your child build a sense of kindness, a respect for life and a great feeling of responsibility!
Lifelong Friends Camp (Ages 6 to 12)
KHS Main Campus, 241 Steedly Drive, Louisville
Lifelong Friends campers will gain an understanding of the impact they can have as animal ambassadors, while having fun making new friends, two-legged and four-legged! All activities are designed to foster a special appreciation for shelter animals. Activities include: taking a behind-the-scenes peek at life in the shelter; hands-on training of adoptable pets; creating videos to be featured on our website; participating in a service project to benefit shelter animals; and bathing and brushing our furry friends.
Wags ’n’ Whiskers Camp (Ages 6 to 12)
KHS East Campus, 1000 Lyndon Lane, Louisville
Wags ’n’ Whiskers Camp is a dog/cat themed experience where campers participate in five days of animal fun that will get their tails wagging! Campers learn about responsible pet care by: socializing adoptable animals; learning the basics of dog/cat body language; making toys and treats for their own pets; touring a vet clinic; and exploring animal-related careers.
Animal Advocate Camp* (Ages 12 to 15)
KHS Main Campus, 241 Steedly Drive, Louisville
KHS Animal Advocate Camp is designed for young adults who have a deep passion for animals and want a hands-on experience with our shelter.
