The No. 21 Cardinals, a 14.5-point underdog in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, achieved the biggest upset in BCS history on Jan. 2, defeating the third-ranked Gators 33-23.
From the first play of the game, Louisville looked ready for battle when Terell Floyd returned an interception 38 yards for a touchdown. The Cards’ star quarterback Teddy Bridgewater took over on offense, with 20 of 32 passing for 266 yards and two touchdowns against the No. 5 defense in the nation.
Louisville became the first team this season to score 30 points against Florida, the school where third-year Louisville Head Coach Charlie Strong formerly served as the defensive coordinator.
Louisville and Florida each finished 11-2 this season.
