Homeschool Soccer Team Runner-Ups At National Championship

The Christian Educational Consortium Cougars high school boys’ soccer team placed second in Division II of the National Homeschool Soccer Championships held in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Oct. 26 and 27.

In 2011 the team finished third.

Christian Educational Consortium has approximatly 400 homeschooled children from grades 6-12 who take advanced classes at the consortium.  Team members must take at least two courses at CEC during the season and maintain a grade of “C” in both courses as well as continue their homeschool studies to remain eligible.

The team finished the season with a record of 12 wins and 7 losses against Christian schools, clubs and Indiana public schools.

The team is coached by Dennis Brooks, who is assisted by Chad Holder, Dylan Shepard and Billy Ward.  Mr. Brooks has a four-year career record of 43-27-2.

The CEC Cougars opened play at the 2012 national championships with a 3-0 win over the Madison (Wisconsin) Tigers.  Their second game was a 1-0 win over the Southside Indianapolis Thunder.  CEC defeated the Mid-Michigan Momentum 5-2 in the semi-finals.  The Cougars lost in the championship game to the Chicago Crossroads Crusaders by a score of 1-2.

Team members are Isaiah Berry, Collier Brooks, Connor Brooks, Ben Chandler, Jonathon, Davis, Jake Harshfield, Alex Long, Aaron Melton, Abe O’Coffey, Kurt Rank, Sam Read, Noah Schneider, Adam Shepherd, Bradley Shepherd, Braden Shepard, Garrison Shepard, Tristan Shepard, Brayden Ward, Aaron Wright and Jonathon Wright.
