Trinity Nipped St. X 15-14 But It Was A Battle
Trinity ended rival St. X’s football season with a 15-14 victory in the Class 6-A regional final, held Nov. 16 at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
Trinity overcame a 14-0 first-quarter deficit and allowed St. X just 11 yards of offense plus one first down in the second half. Trinity played most of the game without star senior receiver James Quick, who was sidelined with an injury on the third play of the Shamrocks’ first possession.
The game marked the end of St. X Head Coach Mike Glaser’s 31-year head-coaching tenure. Glaser’s legacy at St. X includes a 336-78 record and seven state championships.
Trinity will host No. 5 Scott County on Nov. 23 in a state semifinal game.
