Trinity Can Make It A Sweep, Tie St. X!

| March 8, 2012

Basketball is the only boys’ sport now offered by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association that Trinity hasn’t won — and coach Mike Szabo’s Shamrocks are favored in next week’s State Basketball Tournament at Rupp Arena.

That would leave only baseball that Trinity hasn’t won. Rock basketball is ranked this week for the first time in USA Today’s South ratings (ninth), but could move up as Trinity’s football team did by winning a state title. No. 1 in the nation is Oak Hill, Va., a boarding school coached by Wilmore, Ky. native Steve Smith. Oak Hill has a perfect 44-0 record. Wouldn’t you know that Trinity’s biggest rival, St. Xavier, is the only team that has won every sport?
