FIU vs. Louisville

Coach Rick Pitino reunited with his son Richard for a familial coaching battle at the KFC Yum! Center, Dec. 19.

Rick’s No. 5 Cards faced Richard’s Golden Panthers of FIU, who lost to older Pitino’s team 79-55 in the 11th Billy Minardi Classic.

Wayne Blackshear led the Cards in scoring with 18 points, followed by Peyton Siva, who tallied 15. Siva achieved career highs with five 3-pointers as well as 12 assists, and was awarded MVP of the game.

Chane Behanan tacked on 14 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season, while Russ Smith added 14 points for Louisville.

The Cardinals (10-1) shot 49 percent and hit 12 3-pointers, tying a season high.

Tymell Murphy scored 12 points and 12 rebounds for FIU.

The Cards next face Western Kentucky on Dec. 22 in Nashville, Tenn., before taking on ultimate rival Kentucky on Dec. 29 inside the KFC Yum! Center.
