To the surprise of no one who has followed high school basketball this season, the Seventh Region is going to be a dog fight between defending state champion Trinity and  always tough Ballard.

Only three-tenths of a point separate No. 1 Trinity and No. 2 Ballard in The Lexington Herald-Leader’s Dave Cantrall ratings. And third-place Bullitt East  is just 2.1 points ahead of fourth-place John Hardin.

Marion County’s undefeated girls are a solid No. 1.
