Ducks No Match For Cardinals

The UofL men’s basketball team sent twelfth-seeded Oregon packing, with a 77-69 victory on March 29 in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tournament.

Despite battling a cold – and being accused of passing it on to his teammates – Louisville guard Russ Smith matched his career high of 31 points.

“Russ has been getting everybody sick coughing and everything, but, hey, if he continues to be sick and score 31, then I told somebody else I’m just going to keep him outside all night and get him even sicker so he can score even more,” senior Peyton Siva joked in the locker room following the game.

With Siva in foul trouble early on, reserve Kevin Ware gave the Cards a lift with 11 points, topping his previous career best by one. Gorgui Dieng had 10 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots.
