Cards Score Lucky No. 7 Against Irish
Louisville’s second shot of the season at Notre Dame resulted in a much different outcome than the 5-overtime contest ending in a Fighting Irish victory one month ago.
This time, hosting Mike Brey’s team at the KFC Yum! Center on Senior Day, March 9, the Cards trounced Notre Dame 73-57 with the help of Peyton Siva, and likely 2013 NBA draft pick Gorgui Dieng.
Siva and Dieng scored 13 and 20 points, respectively, in a victory that earned Louisville a share of the regular-season conference title. It also marked the Cards’ seventh straight win.
Both Siva and Dieng were honored during Senior Day festivities before the game in front of a crowd of 22,815. Siva is ranked second all-time in assists (631) at UofL, and is five steals shy of breaking the Louisville record.
The Cards received a bye into Thursday’s quarterfinal of the Big East tournament and will play the winner of the St. John’s-Villanova matchup on Wednesday night.
