Galaxy Nails

| September 25, 2011

Let me introduce myself. I’m Joanna, a graphic designer here at the Voice-Tribune, and I’ve been designing for years. So, when I was asked to write a weekly blog that people may actually read, I was nervous to say the least. What in the world should I write about? I’m a foodie, dog lover, music enthusiast, lover of films & tv and I love art. I simply love anything out of the ordinary that’s also creative. So, I plan to post an interesting “something” that I find on the web that week.

This week comes to you from my favorite blog, A Cup of Jo.

When I saw her post about “galaxy nails” I was instantly smitten. I painted my fingernails for the second time in my life (yes, I know that’s crazy.) last weekend, and I’ve grown to like it! Hope you find it as interesting as I do!

Galaxy Nails
1. Get a dark blue nail polish for the base, plus a few lighter sparkly polishes (for stars and comets!).
2. Paint the dark blue on all your nails as the base layer.
3. Now layer the glittery colors over the dark blue, but over only parts of each nail. A swipe here, a dab there. Mix things up with each nail, since you want them all to look different.
4. Layer a lot, since, instead of your nails looking flat, you want to get that 3-dimensional look of a far-away galaxy, like you’re gazing up at the night sky

Star Projector

Keeping with the theme of stars, you may also find this star projector cool. For only $22, I think I may actually get one for my office at home!

From their website:  “The romantic star projector is not only give your child universal astronomical science and enhance the capacity of good assistants hands, but also give you the couple to create a romantic surprise! Ideal for astronomy or astrology fans, romantics, kids who’d appreciate a nightlight with a difference or anyone who wants to bring some starlight into their home.”
