Ducks Unlimited East Annual Dinner
The east chapter of Ducks Unlimited held its annual dinner at the Holiday Inn Hourstbourne on Nov. 8.

- Harvey Diamond won the most money and tied for the most wins.
- Vicky Foley was recognized for tying for the most wins.
- Vincent O’Neill and Mary Alice Blanton presented John Hubbuck with a Julip Cup for having the “Claimer of the Year.”
- Jean and Bill Shewciw. Bill is a retired market executive from Brown and Forman Corporation.
- Billy Reed, at left, spoke at the meeting, while President Mary Alice Blanton presented Ronald G. Geary with the Warner L. Jones Jr. Horseman of the Year Award.
- Allison, Mark and Wendy Geary with Dan Bork, who is an executive with Ellis Race Track in Henderson, Ky.
- Chuck Witting and his wife Isla with Jean Zennder. The Wittings and Zehnders are the owners of horse farms in eastern Jefferson County. Isla is a top producer at Semonin Realtors.
- Nick and Ann Buprice, Ronnie and Jo Galloway, and Mack and Mary Jane Mascarich.
- Chris Murphy and Marci Maner.
- Dr. Paul and Debbie Kelty, Dr. Robert and Sarina Weiss, and Tom Baxter, who is vice president of Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners.
- The Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners held their annual awards dinner at Big Spring Country Club on Nov. 10. Austin Berg, who is a past president of the Thoroughbred Owners; Mr. and Mrs. Keenan; and Mary Alice Blanton, who is the president of the Thoroughbred Owners.
- Elysse Vadnais displayed a framed federal duck stamp and an enlarged picture of a duck that was on the stamp at the live auction.
- Kent Cooper, who is a sports photographer; Maria Eckerle, who is with Frost Engineering; Daniel Keairns, who is an Eagle Scout with Troop 321 based at Middletown Methodist Church; and Dan Sesit, who is president of the Kentucky Wildlife Federation Foundation.
- Jason Stanford, who is with Allied Roofing; Kevin Davis, who is with Davis and Davis Plumbing; and Dr. Steve Remmers of Remmers Dental Offices.
- Beckey Ackerman, Elysse Vadnais, Erin Bailey and Vanessa Zebich were volunteers who helped sell raffle tickets and displayed the live auction items.
- Robbie Albey, who is the owner of Frankfort Avenue Beer Depot; Logan Lacefield; Vincent Cameron, who is a branch manager for the Stifel Nicolaus stock brokerage firm; Heidi Killeh, who is with Stifel Nicolaus; and George Frederick, who is the CEO of Frederick Roofing.
- Vanessa Zebich displayed a framed collection of federal duck stamps from 1934 to 2000 that were part of the live auction.
- Keith Whitlock, who is a sales manager with Chevron Oil Company, and Beckey Ackerman with Joe Schifano, who is the vice president of BB&T Insurance Co.
- Tom Karem, who is a retired stockbroker; Merwin Ray, who is the founder of Steel Technologies Inc.; Stuart Ray, who is president of Peregrine Co. and commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife; and Bud Hughes, who is with Tri-Studs, a steel manufacturer.
