What a pleasure it was to start the day with a Bloody Mary at Bourbon’s Bistro. Co-owner Jason Brauner proved you can have your breakfast – in the form of garnishments made with chorizo, shrimp, peppers, etc. – and drink it too.
We then boarded a Mint Julep Tours bus and headed to Bardstown for lunch at Kurz Restaurant, a historic establishment in itself.
After eating our fill, we headed to the distillery, where just before we began our tour, President Max Shapira welcomed us. He was as funny as he was kind and made us feel so special.
The trip – which was facilitated by our hosts Josh Hafer and Jenny Goodman of Heaven Hill – ended with a tasting and meet ‘n’ greet with Master Distiller Craig Beam before we headed back to Bourbon’s.
