I enjoyed reading the article @ the "KY Farm Women Field Day." I am very thankful of those who have taken their time to plan this event each year. In Jefferson County, there are few known farms. My husband and I are an aquaculture farm, yes, fish ! It has taken us many years to raise our livestock to maturity(12 years), exactly. We are board members of Jefferson County Farm Bureau, not insurance only, like many people think. We are a Farm Federation, of farmers," a voluntary organization of member families, joining together to solve common problems." "Farm Bureau is the Voice of Agriculture, contributing to the strength of Agriculture, and to uphold the ideals on which this great nation was founded."
Farmers are naturally the protectors of the family, food and the environment, taking great pride in providing the best quality foods for families, all around the world. We are proud to be a part of an organization with great values, leaders and educational opportunities for us to be able to keep producing quality foods for our families, the community families and the world's families. Please pray for the farm families in our state, not to be over regulated. If this happens, less and less farms, farmers and farming...less and less food produced. Ask yourself...where would our food come from ?
There are many organizations in our state, trying to keep farming possible and alive...Please support; KY Farm Bureau, KY Farm Bureau Women, KY Farm Bureau Young Farmers, KY Women in Agriculture,KY Aquaculture Association, UK College of Agriculture, KY State University,WK University etc.
I would like to find out how many farmers are in Jefferson County, to let them know about support and education available to them and how you can be helped to raise you're products and get them sold into the community, to feed the people. Be a part of the "FOOD CHAIN," contact me @ rockyridgefarm@insightbb.com for information.
