Derby Magazine On Stands Now!

| March 23, 2013

The Kentucky Derby is an iconic event steeped in history, from the rich bloodlines of Thoroughbred champions to the unique evolution of trackside fashion. So it’s fitting that the second annual Derby edition of The Voice of Louisville, on stands now, celebrates both our favorite local traditions and the exciting innovation of what will surely become new Kentucky institutions.

Inside the glossy pages of our magazine you’ll find a feature on the Barnstable Brown Gala, the famous Derby eve party thrown by Patricia Barnstable Brown and her sister, Priscilla Barnstable. Tricia shares her insight on the incredible annual event, which turns 25 this year. You’ll also see a preview of another very special Kentucky tradition, the Historic Homes Foundation’s 35th annual Derby Breakfast, and get to know the foundation’s President Butch Shaw, a man working tirelessly to help preserve our historic Louisville estates. The glossy also features a striking fashion spread showcasing the latest looks from local boutiques set against the backdrop of the elegant Louisville Marriott Downtown.

The publication also offers an inside look at Churchill Downs’ all-new, luxurious seating venue, The Mansion, which will provide VIPs a personalized experience unlike anything guests have ever seen. In the pages of this, our fourth glossy magazine, you’ll meet three of our favorite jockeys, Jon Court, John McKee and Calvin Borel, to learn what makes each athlete a contender for the main event. And if you’re expecting guests for the Derby weekend, you won’t want to miss the advice proffered by locals Keith and Lisa Morley or the recipes for the latest must-try varieties of the Mint Julep from Brown-Forman’s Chief Entertaining Officer Tim Laird.

So, whether you find yourself participating in beloved Derby traditions of years past or blazing a trail for exciting new memories this year, I hope this latest edition of The Voice of Louisville inspires a spirit of celebration and anticipation for the upcoming 139th Run For The Roses.

Happy Derby!
