‘WDRB Weekend Morning News’
WDRB-TV announced on Oct. 30 that the station will further expand its local news offerings early next year by adding regular weekend morning newscasts to its schedule. “WDRB Weekend Morning News” – which will air every Saturday and Sunday from 6 to 9 a.m. – will premiere on Saturday, Jan. 19.
“This is the next logical step for our News Department,” said WDRB News Director Barry Fulmer. “We already lead the market by offering the most original local news Monday through Friday, and with this latest expansion, we’ll be able to make that claim seven days a week. …That doesn’t mean, however, that our weekend telecasts will just be watered-down versions or rehashes of our weekday newscast. We’re investing in a lot of new full-time staffers who will be devoted exclusively to this newscast and our intent is to produce as much fresh, original content for our weekend viewers as we do during the week.”
Co-anchors for the “WDRB Weekend Morning News” will be will announced at a later date.
