Norton Healthcare officials have announced formal plans and details for the $89.7 million, 24-month project to transform the 373-bed Norton Suburban Hospital into a new women’s and children’s hospital.
The hospital’s design elements will facilitate new, innovative models of care that are dedicated to the special needs of women and children throughout the lifespan. These include an open, spacious floor plan, offering private rooms in a setting that is visually engaging and full of natural light with enhanced green spaces to promote a sense of healing in a family-centered environment.
The transformed facility, located in Louisville at 4001 Dutchmans Lane in eastern Jefferson County, is slated to be completely renovated by the first quarter of 2014.

In honor of its opening in Louisville five years ago, The Curtain Exchange, 3733 Lexington Road, will celebrate its fifth birthday beginning Tuesday, June 12.
“Having worked in Corporate America, I was looking for a business concept that connected to the local community and filled a void in the marketplace,” said Amanda Tyler, owner of The Curtain Exchange in Louisville. “I was thrilled to learn of an American-owned franchise I could purchase. I met Georgina Callan, founder of The Curtain Exchange, in Dallas three weeks later, and the rest is history.”
The Curtain Exchange helps thousands of customers with the selection of ready-made curtains, custom curtains, shades, an extensive hardware selection and two new lines of bedding.
The store provides one-on-one customer service, consultation and installation for window treatments. The company has also expanded its concept to allow customers to “try before they buy.”
“If the approval process is not convenient, one of our designers will come to your home, take a measure, and bring the selections for you to see in your own space,” Tyler said. “We take the guesswork out of decorating your home.”
The Curtain Exchange will celebrate its five year anniversary along with neighboring shop Dandelion, who opened on the exact same day five years ago.
The Curtain Exchange will offer curtains, bedding and Hunter Douglas products made in America and will feature special pricing along with an open house and refreshments from 4-7 p.m. The store will also host a trunk show Friday and Saturday, June 15-16, with new local company, American Made Dorm.
