Meat, the Butchertown bar located at 1076 E. Washington St., has been awarded one of the highest honors in the spirits industry – a place on the “Drinks International” annual The World’s 50 Best Bars list. Meat is 39th on the list and one of only 12 American bars to be named. Criteria for the World’s 50 Best Bars is based on décor, menu (taste), service and how it all works together. According to Michelle Williams of “Drinks International,” Meat is being recognized for a variety of reasons including their prohibition-era crafted drink menu which offers The Meat Julep; Monkey See, Monkey Dew; and Nuns on the Run.
Meat, which opened in 2011, serves over 30 original cocktails with a seasonal drink menu that transforms with the weather. The menu incorporates Kentucky Bourbons and spirits that pay tribute to the Bluegrass State. Unique brands of beer and wine are also served, along with a selection of free snacks in lieu of traditional pub fare. Live music and DJs are often heard playing everything from bluegrass to rock ‘n’ roll.
Meat is open Monday through Saturday until 4 a.m. For more information visit www.meatinlouisville.com or call 502.354.3212.
