In the 28 years that my husband Jeff and I have been married we have owned 5 dogs. Only the very first was obtained from a breeder;interestingly, she was our most challenging but we had her til she died at 15. Our second, a beagle mix-breed, was abandoned at 3mos and I brought her home for a 16 year stay. Our next three (two of which are living) were adopted thru GRRAND and have been absolutely delightful pets. If every one who wanted a wonderful pet would simply adopt a homeless animal, shelters would no longer be necessary. Rescued pets are the best! Oh Beth, you are so right.
