Dress to impress in your most glamorous hippie-chic attire, next Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Flashback Ball. Wendy and David Novak and Yum! Brands invite you to join the movement to end world hunger at this very special ’60s-themed gala, beginning that night at 6:30 p.m. Held at the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage, 1701 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd., the evening promises to deliver a delicious dinner while also helping to provide food for those in need – all proceeds will be donated to the United Nations World Food Programme and the Dare to Care Food Bank. WHASll’s Terry Meiners will be Master of Ceremonies at the retro party, which will include cocktails, live entertainment and an auction.

“The coolest thing about it, the most interesting thing, is that 100 percent of the proceeds go to charity … while raising awareness for the hunger issue,” explained Laura Melillo Barnum, executive director of Yum! Brands Foundation and Community Investments. “We’ve donated over a million dollars over the years to Dare To Care, and this is our 10th anniversary working with them. And we’ve donated, over the last five years, $115 million to the World Food Programme. That’s more than 460 million meals to the people who need it most.”

For more information or to make your reservation for the Flashback Ball, call 502.874.2040. Tickets are $250 per person. There will also be a Drive-Through Food Drive, Oct. 5 from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Yum! Campus, 1441 Gardiner Lane. In honor of their 15th anniversary, Yum! is challenging everyone to bring in 15 canned goods to help meet their goal of 15,000 pounds collected for those in need. You can drive by and drop just one, or even 15 cans in their Dare to Care bins that day. For more information call 502.874.2040 or visit www.fromhungertohope.com.
