What you wear speaks your personality. It also tells how you spend your time. I’ve been a big tennis player all my life and a mom for a dozen years, so I tend to live in active wear.
How do you describe your style?
I like feminine, girly, romantic clothes. Details like fur, lace, velvet, frills and ruffles are my thing. I gravitate to pink and purple. Summer is my time of year, so I favor warm weather attire.
What are your favorite pieces?
Anything cashmere. And I simply love accessories. And shoes. I tend to be very sentimental, so I adore items that my boyfriend or close friends have given me, that are totally me. Dresses are my favorite go-to outfit, whether it’s slipping on one that’s everyday, super casual or getting all dolled up.
Where is your favorite place to shop?
Crush boutique in Middletown always has fun, interesting pieces (and is where I found the dress I’m currently wearing). I have several favorite catalogs, like Boston Proper, that I order (from) regularly. I enjoy shopping the most when I’m with friends or especially when I’m out of town – it’s like a treasure hunt. I still miss Jacobson’s. They were my account when I was an ad exec, and it was hands-down my favorite store.
Who is your fashion icon and why?
Definitely my sister, Kathy Herrington, who is a true fashionista with a degree and career in fashion merchandising. People consult her on what to wear for special occasions or to revamp their closets.
What else do you want people to know about you?
I’m not big on shopping on my own. I enjoy it most with friends or out of town. Or when my kids see something on a mannequin and say, “That would look good on you, Mom.” My best friend, Rose Helm, can walk in a store and pull items I would never consider on my own, and (those pieces) wind up being staples of my wardrobe. I call her my personal shopper.
