Interview By MIRANDA ROGERS MCDONALD
The Chic Sheet
I have a style that is striking with confidence in any venue – (while) public speaking, at a conference meeting, church, University of Louisville, JCPS sporting event or the gym.
How do you describe your style?
I am very brand loyal, have limited time to shop and have a petite frame. I have to know what works and fits day-to-day, right off the rack. I enjoy the classics from Ann Taylor and Banana Republic because of their simple cuts, solid colors and classic pinstriped suits. These basics are easy to mix and match. Grey is also my new black for this fall.
What are your favorite pieces?
Anyone who knows me well knows that my stilettos come first – Micheal Kors preferably – and next I enjoy wearing lapel pins of stamps that the U.S. Postal Service has featured.
Where is your favorite place to shop?
One of my favorite shopping venues is the Monroe Outlets in Cincinnati. When it comes to galas or social affairs, BCBG is hands-down my favorite though.
The biggest-kept secret in town is the $10 sale that the Zappos outlet store has on Wednesdays – I make a point to visit twice per year. I also shop locally at Crush Boutique, because they know my style and have excellent personal service that keeps me
Who is your fashion icon, and why?
CoCo Chanel, because I resound with her! Being bold and distinctive, but keeping it classic never goes out of style.
How has working at the United States Postal Service affected your style?
I am very patriotic! I have the best view outside my office window of “Old Glory,” along with the POW flag. I am also a daughter of a veteran and a co-worker to numerous veterans as well.
As a federal employee that is in a leadership position, the culture is still suits or what we call “dress right dress” for meetings. However, I have a collection of stamp lapel pins that I enjoy wearing on my suits at least once per week to remind me of the freedom we have here in the United States.
