The Mint Julep is practically synonymous with Derby; the Grey Goose Oaks Lily made its mark on the Kentucky Oaks, of course. But, yet to be determined is the drink of choice for Thunder Over Louisville – the official kickoff to the Kentucky Derby Festival.
That all could change, however, with 2013’s installment of one of the largest annual fireworks spectacles in North America. Set for April 20, Thunder Over Louisville will dazzle an estimated 700,000 attendees with a fantastic and memorable event themed “Thunder Vision,” a tribute to classic and modern television shows.
To accompany the theme, Brown-Forman’s Chief Entertaining Officer Tim Laird created specialty cocktails paired perfectly with several of the famous TV show theme songs you’ll hear during the fireworks display in downtown Louisville next month. Below, you’ll find Laird’s delectable recipes sure to inspire nostalgia of TV programs and characters of the past, and enhance the excitement surrounding another unforgettable Derby season.
