Third Thursday After-Work Party
The Voice-Tribune hosted its Third Thursday After-Work Party in conjunction with the Four Roses Bourbon annual Rose Julep Recipe Contest held at the Kentucky Derby Museum on April 19.
During the 9th annual Four Roses Rose Julep contest, Louisville bartenders competed for the title of Derby City’s best and most original version of the Mint Julep. Judges of the contest were Seth Thompson, of The Bourbon Review, President of the Kentucky Chapter of the U.S. Bartenders Guild Josh Durr, Joy Perrine of Jack’s Lounge, and photographer-journalist Fred Minnick. The Village Anchor’s Kyle Tabler was named the overall winner and recipient of a $500 cash prize, two tickets to the Great Steamboat Race, a silver engraved Mint Julep cup and an engraved plaque.
The Voice-Tribune’s Angie Fenton emceed throughout the evening, while guests enjoyed appetizers, a cash bar, giveaways, the Kentucky Derby Museum’s exhibits and music from DJ Jaybird. Four Roses sponsored the event.
