Aluna Art Foundation held an opening reception of “Body, Maps and Territories: Personal Geographies,” an exhibition that combines artwork from Patricia Schnall-Gutiérrez, Chris Radtke of Louisville, Ky., María Martínez-Cañas and Carola Bravo; with the participation of Lili(ana). The reception was held Jan. 19 at Aluna Art Foundation in Miami, Fla.
For the project, local artist Radtke created installations that are somewhat organic – changing over time and environment – with mesh cubes. These mesh cubes are metaphors for the live body that not only respond to their environment, but also contain subtle references to sexuality and the passage of time. Radtke outlines maps or alternative path structures that infuse life to the exhibition space, reminding that each part is connected to the other: the transformation is constant and every change affects the totality.
