The Fillies Derby Ball, an evening of cocktails, dinner and dancing, was held April 17 at the Galt House Grand Ballroom. The event featured the coronation of the Derby Festival Queen, who was selected by the traditional spin-of-the wheel. In keeping with tradition, the new queen “knighted” individuals to the Court of the Pegasus for their contributions to the community. The annual ball is put on by the Fillies Club, which began providing volunteer service to the Kentucky Derby Festival in 1959.
