The Voice-Tribune’s Brunch with Betsey Johnson Presented by Chambord

| May 12, 2011

The Voice-Tribune’s Brunch with Betsey Johnson Presented by Chambord at the Louisville Downtown Marriott on May 5 lived up to the host’s reputation: It was a fun, funky, celebratory fete that won’t soon be forgotten.
The sold-out crowd of more than 320 people mixed ‘n’ mingled with one another and the iconic fashion designer, who was in town for the Kentucky Derby as a guest of Chambord. Ms. Johnson didn’t even bat an eye – but did laugh and hug and delight – while posing for pictures with 210 of our attendees even before the morning’s event began.
Guests dined on a three-course meal and Chambord mimosas before Voice-Tribune Managing Editor Angie Fenton took the stage to emcee the program, which included an unforgettable speech by Betsey and the honoring of six of her fellow breast cancer survivors: Wendy Martin, Mel Fisher, Thomas Buckman, Karen Casi, Bobbie Leslie and Debbie Scoppechio.
At the end of the brunch, only one lucky winner – Anne Harrison – took home a Betsey Johnson custom-designed Derby-style hat, but based on the feedback we’ve received, all of our guests walked away with memories they’ll treasure for years to come.
(Editor’s Note: The Voice-Tribune would like to thank staffer Lauren DePaso for heading up the brunch preparations.)
