Forecastle Festival 2012

Both Louisvillians and visitors from all over the country gathered together at the Waterfront July 13 through 15 to see their favorite bands (and a few new ones) play at Forecastle Festival 2012. The music festival, themed, “Music, Art, and Activism,” boasted an incredible lineup of 68 groups and artists that included Louisville’s own My Morning Jacket, Bassnectar, Wilco, Neko Case and Sleigh Bells.

Despite a schedule delay on Saturday because of the rain, festival-goers had a blast enjoying the music, diverse crowd and on-site activities such as living art exhibitions and a live marching band.

Barry Bernson Book Signing

Carmichael’s Bookstore hosted a talk and book signing July 12 with popular television journalist Barry Bernson to celebrate the publication of his new book, Bernson’s Corner: A Reporter’s Notebook. The book, which comes with a DVD of some of Bernson’s best television segments, is a warm and often-hilarious account of a life spent in the news business. Bernson’s Corner is published by Louisville’s Butler Books and features an introduction by Byron Crawford.

Barry Bernson began his career as a radio news anchor and has been on the air most recently in roles with both WHAS and WDRB. He retired as co-anchor of “WDRB in the Morning” in 2011. Bernson was voted “Best Morning Host” multiple times by Louisville Magazine and has won many awards including several Midwest EMMYs and Metro Louisville Journalism Awards.
