Meat-lovers flocked to Bluegrass Brewing Company on Shelbyville Road on June 23 for the Brews, Blues and BBQ event.
A pig roast, cornhole tournament, live music and amateur BBQ competition were enjoyed by visitors.

Louisville Brewfest
Visitors to Louisville Brewfest, held June 22 at Louisville Slugger Field, celebrated the uniqueness of Louisville’s independent brews and businesses by sampling the best of local breweries and wineries. In addition to tasting, brew enthusiasts browsed a silent auction and merchandise from locally owned retailers, listened to live music and received free CityScoot rides home.

American Cancer Society Evening of Hope Gala
The American Cancer Society hosted the Evening of Hope Gala June 23 at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel. The theme was “Latin Breezes, Salsa Nights.” Guests enjoyed a black-tie dinner, drinks, and dancing, with both live and silent auctions throughout the evening.
The event celebrates the 15-percent decrease in cancer-related deaths between the early 1990s and 2005; meaning 11 million cancer survivors will celebrate their birthdays this year.

Douglass Loop Farmers’ Market
Fresh fruits, vegetables and meats were some of the delicious, locally produced goods that shoppers snatched up at the Douglass Loop Farmers’ Market on June 23.
The market is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and can be found in the parking lot of Douglass Boulevard Christian Church.

Lights Out Dinner At The Mayan Cafe
Diners enjoyed a four-course, dining-in-the-dark experience at the Mayan Cafe on June 21, courtesy of IdeaFestival and IF University.
The dinner showcased the culinary talent of four-star chef Bruce Ucán. Those attending were blindfolded in order to experience the creative meal using their remaining four senses.

Hope-Vision-Voice Golf Scramble
The Council on Developmental disabilities hosted its second annual Hope-Vision-Voice Golf Scramble June 23 at Long Run Golf Course.
Golfers enjoyed time on the greens at the fundraising event, which benefited those with developmental disabilities.

Third Thursday After-Work Party
More than 400 guests attended The Voice-Tribune’s Third Thursday After-Work Party on June 21 at Napa River Grill in Westport Village.
The evening was sponsored by Heaven Hill, which provided several specialty cocktails, and Buschemeyer’s, which showcased some of the unique gold and diamond jewelry for which the business is known.
As always, Jay “DJ Jaybird” Campbell – The Voice-Tribune’s official deejay – kept the dance floor hopping. Several attendees walked away the winners of giveaways provided by Heaven Hill, Buschemeyer’s, Boutique Serendipity and A Therapeutic Touch.
The Voice-Tribune’s next Third Thursday is July 19 at BBC Theater Square, 660 S. Fourth St., in downtown Louisville.

The Taste Of Frankfort Avenue
Attendees savored cuisine from more than two dozen of Louisville’s finest restaurants at the 20th annual Taste of Frankfort Avenue, held at the Clifton Center on June 24. A silent auction took place while tasters enjoyed performances by Nathan Salsburg and Hog Operation, as well as other musical groups.

Festival In The Upper Highlands
The Upper Highlands Neighborhood Association held its Eighth Annual Festival June 23 on the front lawn of Atherton High School.
The free event featured live music, clowns, face painting, and various vendors with wares and refreshments.

Tammy York Day Birthday Party
Tammy York Day celebrated her birthday with friends June 20 at the home of her sister, Tonya York Dees, and Michael Dees on Blankenbaker Lane. The event was embellished with flowers by Paulette Jones, delicious food from Fawbush Catering and a grand birthday cake from Homemade Pie Kitchen.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Backyard BBQ
Guests joined Hall of Fame Coach Denny Crum and Susan Sweeney Crum June 23 for a backyard barbeque celebration.
The event was held in appreciation of those who have supported the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s efforts to find a cure for the disease.
