Field & Fork: An Evening At The Parklands

On Saturday, June 9, Old Louisville Meets New Louisville hosted Field & Fork, a dinner and outdoor concert held at The Parklands Walnut Grove Plantation.

The evening’s entertainment featured Grammy award-winner Sam Bush. The dinner was presented by JP Morgan Chase, and benefited The Parklands of Floyds Fork.

Cynthia Fackler 30th Birthday

Cynthia Fackler’s 30th birthday party was held at the Lake Forest home where she lives with her husband, Joshua. Themed “White Hollywood,” the party celebrated the Brown Forman employee and featured decorations from Bella Wedding rental and sales.

Joshua and Cynthia own the American College of Barbering, a Farouk Systems School.

Exclusively New Albany

On June 9, the fifth edition of Exclusively New Albany was held at the historic home of David and Elee Bingham at 1626 Dewey St. in New Albany. The theme was “The Hidden Treasure of Epaphras Jones,” and local merchants, restaurants and entertainers were featured.

The event serves as a showcase for downtown New Albany and benefits the Padgett Museum, Develop New Albany and the Scribner House.

Champion For Aging

The Champion For Aging Award luncheon was held on June 15 and was themed, “Celebrating 50 Years of Service and Innovating for Tomorrow.”

The event, held at the Galt House, honored Louisvillian Joe Steier, CEO of Signature Health CARE and founder of the International Center for Long Term Care Innovation.

Bourbon & Bowties: A Taste Of Corbett’s

The Third Annual Bourbon and Bowties event was held June 14 at Corbett’s: An American Place.

Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and desserts from some of Louisville’s top chefs, music and a silent auction to benefit Kosair Children’s Hospital through the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Noland 70th Anniversary

Barbara and Harold Noland celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on June 14 at the couple’s home in Saint Matthews. Barbara and Harold’s four children hosted the event.
The party was located in Druid Hills, where the couple has lived for 41 years and where Barbara has served as a commissioner for 20 years.

The second Downs After Dark night racing event took place at Churchill Downs on June 16. “Desert Oasis” was the theme and featured belly dancers, sitar players, the Amir El Saffar Ensemble, as well as a Moroccan cabana.

Westport High School Reunion

Westport High School hosted a reunion for the classes of 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1968 on June 16 at the home of Dr. Doug Ahrens off of Lime Kiln Lane.

Past students from New York, Florida, North Carolina and California attended the reunion. Former UofL Athletic Director Bill Olsen attended, as well as Russell Ogden, who prepared award-winning BBQ for the attendees.

Juliette Brewster 50th Birthday Celebration

A black tie event in honor of Juliette Brewster was held on Sunday, June 17, at the Sawyer-Hayes Center in Anchorage, Ky. Guests gathered to celebrate Juliette’s 50th birthday and the liver transplant that more than doubled her life expectancy of 23 years.

J Michael’s First Anniversary

J Michael’s Spa and Salon celebrated their first anniversary June 12-16. Customers enjoyed special offers and free product bags throughout the week. A portion of the proceeds benefited the Gilda’s Club Louisville. On June 13, owner Jill Higginbotham and her staff gave a complete makeover, including hair extensions, to April Auspland, who is going through the Gilda’s Club program after battling a brain tumor.
