The Woman’s Club of Louisville No-Jury Art Show
The Woman’s Club of Louisville’s annual No-Jury Art Show was held March 16 -23 at the Clubhouse on South Fourth Street. The show, begun in 1938, provides an opportunity for artists throughout the area to display their work.
- Ciel Iler and Carol Whayne welcomed visitors for the Artists’ Reception on opening night.
- Sarann Harralson, Patricia Klinck, who is president of the Woman’s Club, and Anna Weiss.
- Sally LaBaugh was presented a gold ribbon for her construction with painted horses.
- Lynn Dunbar won best of show for her oil painting, “River Captain.”
- Marguerite Rice with her abstract pastel, “Cosmo in the City.”
- Teri Dryden, who recently moved from Los Angeles, won a gold ribbon for “Nightfall.”
- Margurite Rice received her award from Woman’s Club president, Patricia Klinck.
- Sharon Matisoff of Louisville with her red-ribbon winner, “John Michael Carter at His Easel.”
- Lauren Young entered her painting, “Woman in Straw Hat.”
- Frank Weisberg with his oil painting, “A Piece of Cake.”
- Leslie Bright, daughter of well-known sculptor, Barney Bright, with her oil painting, “Health Care Crisis in America.”
- “Best Friends,” an oil painting by Marilyn Vaughn.
- “Robert’s Bay,” an oil painting by Carolyn Wallace.
- James Russell May’s blue-ribbon winner in oil and alkyd resin, “Apollo and Daphne.”
- Wes Kendall’s portrait of his grandchild, “Ava Lynn.”
- “Figgy,” a portrait of the artist’s cat.
- Karen Wyssbrod won honorable mention for her stained glass vase with butterflies.
- Shirley Claire’s oil painting, “Home for the Holidays.”
- In conjunction with the No-Jury Art Show, the Woman’s Club presented “March Music Madness,” featuring the Louisville Orchestra Philharmonic Jazz Quintet.
- Gayl Leathers, Dr. Bill and Barbara Gist, Annabelle Woody, Tara Long and Bill Long.
- Nancy Howard’s oil painting, “Do You See What I See?”
- Catherine Bryant created “The Water Tower Sentinel” in acrylic.
- “Venice Awnings,” by Nancy Burk.
