He joined the Miami Dolphins as offensive coordinator, was head coach of the Baltimore Colts and revived the football programs at the University of Miami and the University of Louisville.

- The brothers of the late Mike Silliman accepted the Hall of Fame award for their father. Mike played basketball for West Point, where he remains the greatest player in Army history. Following his army service, he played for the New York Knicks and the Buffalo Braves.

- Will Wolford, who became an All-American in his senior year at Vanderbilt. He played for the Buffalo Bills, the Indianapolis Colts and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is currently the color analyst for the Indianapolis Colts.

- Mary T. Meagher Plant, who set world records in swimming. She won three gold medals in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. She retired with 24 U.S. national swimming titles.
