‘When Jenny Lind Came To Town’

“When Jenny Lind Came To Town,” a fact-based, fictionalized musical docu-drama celebrating Jenny Lind’s April 1851 performances in Louisville, Ky., and Madison, Ind., will make its debut at the Clifton Center, 2117 Payne St., April 3 through 7. The play is the newest work of Kentucky playwright Mike Smith, directed by Bill Breuer and musical director Lynne McReynolds Chenault. The play tells a spirited story about the infamous promoter P.T. Barnum’s plan to bring the Swedish Nightingale on tour to America and how Madison, Ind. pork-house worker Billy Wilson, despite incredible odds, convinced Barnum to change Lind’s tour and make an unscheduled stop in Madison.
