‘The Graduate’

Actor’s Choice Theatre, in partnership with Wayward Actors Company, will present the stage version of the hit comedy-drama “The Graduate” in the MeX Theatre of the Kentucky Center, 501 W. Main St., Feb. 7 through 17. The play tells the story of Benjamin Braddock, a recent university graduate with no well-defined aim in life. He is seduced by Mrs. Robinson, an older woman and family friend, but soon finds himself falling in love with her daughter Elaine. The theme of an innocent and confused youth who is exploited and betrayed by a corrupt, decadent and discredited older generation was well understood by film audiences and captured the spirit of the times. The stage production adds several scenes that are not in the novel or the film. As in the movie, the play features music by Simon & Garfunkel, including the eponymous and highly popular song “Mrs. Robinson,” which will be performed live during the show. Performances will be Feb. 7, 8, 9, 15 and 16 at 8 p.m., and Feb. 17 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 for general admission, $15 for students and seniors, and are available at 800.775.7777 or 502.584.7777. This play contains nudity and adult situations.
