Honoring new or first-generation immigrants and refugees who have made a significant contribution in their profession and in the local and global community, the MOSAIC Awards will be held May 30 from 5 to 8:30 p.m, at The Henry Clay, 604 S. Third St. MOSAIC stands for Multicultural Opportunities for Success and Achievement IN our Community. The event benefits Jewish Family & Career Services, a nonprofit human services organization that has assisted people from many countries for more than 100 years to achieve the American dream of building assets. This year’s honorees are Paul Diaz, CEO of Kindred Healthcare; Dr. Riffat Hassan, UofL professor emerita and founder of the International network for the Right of Female Victims of Violence in Pakistan; Dennis Ogbe, global community relations specialist at Brown-Forman and international paralympic champion; Vidya Ravichandran, president of GlowTouch Technologies; and Dr. Shlomit Schaal, UofL associate professor of ophthalmology and researcher of ocular biochemistry and molecular biology.
