Metro Parks Halloween Events
Leaves are falling and temperatures are dropping, but October is bustling with Halloween spirit at Metro Parks, with several special events planned.
Event: Classic Horror Theater – “Nosferatu” and “Night of the Living Dead”
Location: Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center lawn (201 Reservoir Avenue)
Date: Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13
Time: 9 p.m. each night
Cost: Free
Event Details: Being scared has never been so much fun! Join other horror film fans for a special two-night event at the Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center. Friday, October 12 features the classic 1922 silent film Nosferatu, an adaptation of the Dracula story, by German filmmaker F.W. Murnau. Event: “Wild and Woolly in the Woods”: 2nd Annual Zombie Hike
Location: Jefferson Memorial Forest (11311 Mitchell Hill Road)
Date: Saturday, October 13
Time: 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Cost: Admission free – parking $5; S’mores kits available for $3
Event Details: For ages 18 and older. Calling all zombies! The undead are hiking the trails at Jefferson Memorial Forest! Event sponsor, Wild and Woolly Video, celebrates its 15th anniversary with this zombie-fest in the woods, inviting one and all to come dressed in your zombie best. Event includes a screening of the cult zombie classic “Let Sleeping Corpses Lie”, s’mores around the campfire, costume contest, prizes. Refreshments from BBC and Taco Punk available for purchase.

Event: “Trunk or Treat”
Location: Douglass Community Center (2305 Douglass Boulevard)
Date: Wednesday, October 24
Time: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Cost: Free
Event Details: Join us at Douglass for a kid-friendly atmosphere at “Trunk or Treat”, where families are invited to decorate the trunk of their car to create a “trick or treat” station, where kids can collect the goodies! Games and refreshments will be available, along with a police helicopter, police talking car and other fun activities.

Event: Goblins and Ghouls Ball

Date: Thursday, October 25

Event: Zombie Park!
Location: Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center (201 Reservoir Avenue)

Time: 8 p.m. to Midnight
Cost: $3 for adults; $2 for children 12 and under
Event Details: Enter Zombie Park – if you dare! Visitors will be led along a frightful path, encountering zombies along the way! Tickets can be purchased in advance, at the aquatic center, or purchased at the event.

Event: Haunted Halls at Beechmont
Location: Beechmont Community Center (205 Wellington Avenue)
Date: Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27
Time: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Cost: $2 per person / $1 for face painting
Event Details: Visitors to Beechmont’s “haunted halls” will encounter monsters and scary scenes throughout the building, including “Area 51”, “Kreepy Karnival” and “Hall of Graves” and a mad scientist’s laboratory! Nothing TOO scary, though, because this is geared to be family-oriented event. Event also includes games and activities such as a fortune teller and face painting.

Event: Ghost Stories of Louisville
Location: Douglass Community Center (2305 Douglass Boulevard)
Date: Tuesday, October 30
Time: 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Cost: $3 per person
Event Details: Visitors will enjoy a slide presentation sharing the haunted histories and ghost stories of many Louisville homes.
