Man to Man – Louisville
The American Cancer Society’s Man to Man – Louisville prostate cancer group will learn about incontinence issues associated with prostate cancer treatment in a talk from Urologist Chris Smith, MD. The group, designed for men diagnosed with prostate cancer in the last year, will meet at 6 p.m. on Jan. 10 in rooms 2A and 2B in the second-floor Education Center at Baptist Hospital East, 4000 Kresge Way. Man to Man now meets every other month, from September through May. The meeting provides information about the disease, as well as treatment options. The support group, sponsored by Baptist East and the American Cancer Society, is free. For information call 502.896.3009.
A discussion session about prostate cancer treatment options will be held Jan. 11 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center, 750 Cypress Station Drive, in the first-floor meeting rooms, near the Center Café. Radiation Oncologist Ben M. Birkhead, MD, will lead the discussion about treatment options for newly diagnosed prostate cancer patients, providing objective information that may help men make thoughtful and informed decisions. The discussion will be informal and there will be ample time for questions. Participants should bring information about their PSA scores, Gleason score from their biopsy and general information about their health and family history to make the discussion more meaningful. There is no cost to attend the session. For more information or to register call 502.897.8131.
