Historical League Presentation
On Feb. 17 at 2 pm, The Carnegie Center for Art and History and the Louisville Historical League will present a talk titled, “Lucy Higgs Nichols’ Civil War: From Slavery to the Grand Army of the Republic,” at the Carnegie Center, 201 E. Spring St., New Albany, Ind. Vic Megenity, Curt and Pam Peters will talk on the life of Ms. Nichols, a slave who ran to freedom at Bolivar, Tenn., and reached the Indiana 23rd regiment camped there. The presentation will take about 40 minutes and then the group will view the permanent exhibit upstairs at the Carnegie Center for Art and History. This event is free and open to the public.
