Garvin Gate Blues Festival
Now in its sixth year, the Garvin Gate Blues Festival continues to be the largest local free Blues festival in the city of Louisville. The two-day event will be held Oct. 12 and 13, at The Gate on Garvin Place at Oak Street, in historic Old Louisville. The Festival features seasoned Blues singers and bands from around the country like Sugar Ray and the Bluetones. Headliner and festival closer Nora Jean Wallace was nominated for two W. C. Handy Awards as Best New Artist and Best Traditional Blues Female Artist of the Year. Local bands including The Predators and da Mudcats will perform, and the Festival also showcases artists and craft vendors each night. Proceeds benefit the Garvin Gate Neighborhood Association, to help preserve and make improvements in the area of the Festival and throughout Old Louisville.
