WAVE 3 News Anchor Dawne Gee, WHAS11 Meteorologist Ben Pine, Terry Meiners, Regalo co-owner and artist JD Dotson, Metro Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh and University of Louisville Coordinator of Student Leadership Gerome Stephens will all participate in the 22nd Annual Brightside/Coca-Cola Volleyball Classic this weekend at Seneca Park.
The local notables will vie against one another – and a few others – at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 23.
Admission is free for any part of the two-day event, which is part of the mayor’s Healthy Hometown initiative and will include some of the area’s strongest amateur ballers as well as teams with players of all levels. The tournament features grass divisions for Youth, Men, Women, Co-ed, and Corporate Teams, in addition to sand divisions.
Valvoline is the official Cleanup Sponsor, which is fitting to have since Brightside is a beautification endeavor.

Clearly, This Is Dope
Josh Keown, a former Voice staffer, is also the creator of a Tumblr blog you can find at www.TheClearlyDope.com. And you’ll want to.
The witty website has attracted thousands –and thousands – of followers over the past few weeks, including Daniel Tosh, host of the “Comedy Central” show “TOSH.0.”
My prediction for Josh and The Clearly Dope? Much continued success. Stay tuned.

The Voice-Tribune’s next Third Thursday After-Work Party is 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday (obviously, right?) at Volare, 2300 Frankfort Ave. We hope you’ll join us for what’s become a popular, enjoyable event.
We’ll have featured drinks – the Bubble Berry Martini with Bacardi Dragon Berry Rum, a Bombay Sapphire Collins and Martini wines – and complimentary appetizers, along with giveaways and swag bags.
‘Fore’ a Good Cause
The Terry Meiners Crusade Golf Scramble is at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 25, at Woodhaven Country Club, and there’s still time to sign up. Just call 502.582.7706, email email@example.com or go to www.whascrusade.org.
I offered to drive the drink cart in lieu of playing in the scramble, but Terry is convinced that my hidden golf skills are similar to my allegedly decent dart-throwing abilities, so I’ll actually hit the links at Woodhaven. Look out.
The WHAS11 Health & Fitness Expo is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 22 and 23, at the Kentucky International Convention Center.
The annual event, sponsored by the James Graham Brown Cancer Center, offers attendees free medical tests and screenings, demonstrations and much more. You can go to www.whas11.com for more information or tune in to the ABC affiliate at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21. I’ll host a 30-minute special on the expo and share why stopping by could be beneficial to your health.
