An unforgettable week
Derby was truly unforgettable, and here are just a few photos from my busy weekend.
- Picture with ESPN’s Kenny Mayne, who hailed a taxi out of nowhere when we were both stranded backside at Churchill Downs on Oaks morning. He didn’t have a horse he wasn’t dressed as a knight in shining armor, but he certainly saved the day.
- On the red carpet at Churchill Downs with Josh Keown and The Voice’s Chris Humphreys. The talented twosome are also the creators of “Social 180,” a web-based show that’s always good for a quick laugh and plenty of “OMG” moments. Check out their latest episodes in our gallery section.
- My colleague Chris Humphreys took this photo of me backstage at The Voice-Tribune’s Brunch with Betsey Johnson Presented By Chambord. It symbolizes so much of what Derby Week means to me.
- Dishing with Priscilla Barnstable (left) and Tricia Barnstable Brown on the red carpet for Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby Day. My dress was created by Louisville’s own Butch Sager; my fascinator is by Maureen Uhlin of Maureen’s Creation; and my makeup is by Ashley Corsi. Women’s Wear Daily liked the look so much they featured it in their collection of Derby photos (Thanks, Butch, Maureen and Ashley!).
- Betsey Johnson posed with Robin Kihnley backside at Churchill Downs. I’ve yet to hear one instance where the fashion designer denied a fan her time. I was a Betsey fan before. I’m now a Betsey fan forever.
- Backside on Oaks morning with Candyce Clifft, who hosts “FOX in the Morning” with Barry Bernson on FOX 41. I’m wearing a Betsey Johnson dress and fascinator by Maureen Uhlin of www.maureenscreation.com. My makeup was done by Ashley Corsi, who was kind enough not to pass out when I told her I needed her to arrive at my house at 2 a.m. to help me get ready for what would be a near 24-hour day. Needless to say, I have her booked for several future dates. She’s a keeper and fabulous at what she does.
